If you are like me, you get a travel bug ever so often. It comes at a crazy time (most often when you poor). But don’t let the fact that you are on a budget stop you from going out in the world.
I know you are thinking, how can I afford to travel when I am trying to save as much money as I can? Well, the answer is simple, budget it in. My best friend and I (along with our fellas) are taking a trip to Disneyland. I know it super expensive and we must be crazy with me and my guy in some serious debt.
Did you know that you can afford a trip to a Disney park? Here is how you do it. You pick a time you want to go. We are going in February. We talked it over and picked a weekend that we were all free for this trip and went online looking for deals. It was crazy how much everything was. But believe it or not, if you go onto the Disney website it can become affordable. We are staying at one of the Good Neighbors Hotels and got 3 days of Park Hopper Passes for the low, low price of $1,116.96. It is a lot if you are paying it all at once but when you are booking with Disney you can do payments. All they want is to have everything paid off one month prior to your trip. You do need to put $200 down when you book but if you a planner you can look book ahead and spread those payments out. The payments can be any amount as well. If you can only afford $20 one day then pay that. They don’t care how many payments you need for your trip as long as you pay for it.
Traveling is expensive but it is also a fun thing to do when you can. If you want to take a trip somewhere look around for the deals. If you are planning a trip to a location that is really popular (Disneyland), look up for when they are at a slow point. It is very easy to find out when you should travel. Shop for flights if you are flying. Sign up for any and all hotel and airline programs that are free. It won’t cost you any money but it will make it easier to find out when the airlines are offering deals or hotels are running specials and where. Also, don’t be afraid to call someone directly. Hotels often offer better deals if you call them then if you are booking online.
They say that if you are flying to book your flight 52 days prior to your trip for the best deal. I have no idea if that is true. I have looked and I have a better deal right now than if I waited but it is important to know your plans. What time do you want to arrive? Are you okay with going out at a later time? We are taking the last flight out both ways but that was in part so we could also have more time at the park and because we work during the day. There were some good deals earlier in the day but we would have to have missed work and we need the money to cover the trip.
If Disneyland is not somewhere you want to go, try calling a travel agent. They can sometimes find you a deal and will even let you know if you can do a payment plan for the trip. It might be a little stricter than Disney but it will be worth it.
